Meditation Demystified – Part 1

What is Meditation?

It took years for me to experience this and I can’t explain that in two sentence.

but there is a way to reach this state without defining it.

Meditation is not a rocket science; everyone can practice.

It is so simple and natural but we find it very difficult, to make it easy let us just know it’s our natural state of being.

we don’t have to learn any process to get there. we need to rip apart all the conditioning we are used to and it is mostly unlearning of what we assume we know.

maybe I am confusing you more, but hold on you will understand what I mean.

Where do we start?

By cultivating awareness.

What does that mean?

Let’s take this common activity we do daily. Conversing to people say, friends, family or a stranger.

While you are in that conversation,

Have you ever noticed how much are you present with all your mind in that conversation?

While you are eating, walking, talking, we fly out of our present moment and we are only partially present and yet we could finish our task, what if when we are fully present, where does that lead us to?

You have come until here so I assume you need this right now in your life

There is an urgency to feel that state of complete awareness, this is a milestone, many of us take years to reach until here. Maybe because we are happy with normalcy and we are so used to it. Now we need more than that, we need awareness, we want to live our live to our full potential.

First to get there, lets drop all the expectations we have right here about where this will lead us. We are only here to experiment. Leaving the judgements behind and leaving all that we know about meditation behind.

We are starting afresh, everything is new.

Now we are ready to go

Preparation Task one.

The closest thing that we can direct our attention to is our breath, there is an inhale and an exhale in each breath, it happens even if you are not completely present.

But now we chose to be aware.

Watch your breath, count all the inhales and exhales in which you are fully present.

See if your mind lets you stay present for every inhale and exhale for 5 breaths and then increase that steady state of awareness for ten breaths.

When your mind drags you out come back to your breath and repeat mentally INHALE ,EXHALE while you feel the intensity of each inhale and exhale.

Closing your eyes is good idea to feel that breath completely.

This is a practice and a very simple practice

How often we understand the value of a minute?

Set an alarm for one minute and do this practice.

Now you will fully comprehend the time involved in one minute and you will experience all of it because you are aware. You are present.

This is how you cultivate your awareness.

Does it look easy?

Give it a try.

It just takes a minute.
